Shore.Net Announces Purchase of Company by Pea Island Computing Corp.
Lynn, Mass. -- Shore.Net, one of New England’s first regional Internet Service Providers, today announced its re-establishment when Pea Island Computing Corp. purchased the assets of Primus Managed Hosting (the former Shore.Net) from Primus Telecommunications, Inc., of McLean, Virginia. Pea Island Computing Corp. was founded in 2001 by Lowell Gray, the original creator and CEO of Shore.Net.
Shore.Net’s main focus will be on hosting services, specifically colocation, application hosting and cloud computing services. “Even in the current economic climate, we have a unique opportunity presented to us,” said Lowell Gray at Shore.Net’s Network Operations Center in Lynn, Mass. “The company will be able to leverage its existing rock-solid infrastructure into providing a high level of service at very low cost. Clients that date back to 1993 will remember our commitment to our customers while our pricing will attract those looking to give their businesses lower cost alternatives.”
Shore.Net was founded in 1993 in Lynn, Mass. as a full-service Internet Service Provider, providing hosting and access services to the New England region. The company moved its Network Operations Center to the former New England Telephone and Telegraph building in downtown Lynn after extensive renovations in 1998. This facility continues to serve as the staff headquarters for Shore.Net and its data center for all Internet access and hosting services.
